Barn2Door is excited to announce a partnership with the Biodynamic Association (BDA). The BDA has long supported biodynamic agriculture by building community and skills through training, scholarships, research and other resources. Barn2Door is partnering to support Biodynamic Association members selling sustainably-grown, nutritious food direct to their local communities. BDA Members will receive $100 off the Barn2Door one-time setup fee with an upon proof of Membership.

At Barn2Door, we only serve Farms with clean and sustainable practices, because we believe the future of our food systems lies in local producers who care for their land and their communities. One of those Farms is Zinniker Family Farms, a longtime cornerstone of the Biodynamic Association community.

Zinniker Family Farms is the longest-running biodynamic Farm in the county. Years ago, Petra Zinniker wrote to the BDA after college in Germany, looking for an internship on an organic Farm. She was connected with Zinniker Family Farms, which was founded on the teachings from Rudolph Steiner and utilized biodynamic methods since 1943. Once working on the Farm, Petra fell in love with her now husband as well as a lifelong passion for biodynamics. Today, they sell grass fed beef, pork, chicken, eggs and Biodynamic Preps.

Petra Zinniker shared, “We were always going direct-to-customers, but in the last few months we’ve seen a lot of new customers. The way people buy food has really changed, and we’ve been asking ourselves, ‘What do we need to do to increase sales?’

We used to sell only in bulk, but (similar to CSA’s) people don’t understand how to purchase that way anymore. We started playing with the idea of what else to offer, and recently started doing 12-month subscriptions for beef bundles, which have been receiving good interest! We hadn’t expected to bring all the animals ready in for harvest, but we ended up having to.” You can read Petra’s full story in the Farmer Spotlight: Zinniker Family Farm.

At Barn2Door, we help sustainable Farmers sell direct to their communities, by making it convenient for buyers to purchase online for delivery, pickup or shipping. We’re proud to partner with the Biodynamic Association, to support their work and offer BDA member Farms a discount on Barn2Door’s services.
