When thinking about iconic logos everyone is familiar with, they all have the same things in common. They’re simple, clean, and can pass any vision test (aka, they’re recognizable up close or far away!). Carhart, John Deere, and USDA Organic all have simple logos and use 1 to 2 colors. 

 
 

For your Farm logo, less is more. The simpler it is, the more impact it will have on your customers, and the more likely they’ll remember it. In fact, 95% of the world’s leading brands use only 1 to 2 colors in their logo. Using more than two colors can become visually overwhelming and expensive to print. Almost 50% of consumers believe a logo can effectively communicate a brand’s personality, so your Farm logo must be simple and easy to identify. Components that make the image complicated or difficult to interpret should be avoided. No one wants to decipher what’s happening with your Farm logo, so work with the Designer to keep it simple!

A Memorable Logo Makes an Impression 

A well-designed logo is memorable. On average, it will take 5 to 7 times to see a logo before the customer will remember your brand. So, how do you ensure your Farm logo is memorable? You pick the right shape, fonts, text, and colors that represent your Farm’s values and aesthetic. 

Think of your logo as a symbol that represents your brand. A logo that is simple to describe to someone else – an outline of livestock, produce, or a barn, all consist of basic shapes and elements. People can easily grasp the symbol, making it easy to remember long term. Logos that are complex, have too many colors, and are overly stylized will be dismissed by viewers who find it difficult to understand.

Choose one shape, up to two colors (maximum), and decide if you want to include your Farm name in your logo. These will be the first elements to decide before the Designer creates your Farm logo.

You’ll want to make sure it's visible no matter how a buyer comes in contact with your Farm – online (website, social media, email) and off-line(at farmers’ markets, on shirts, hats). It’s important that when a logo is sized (small or large), a buyer can still recognize it. If not, your Farm will not accrue any brand value.
