RECAP: PASA Sustainable Agriculture Conference

The Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) Conference 2020 was held in downtown Lancaster, PA at the Lancaster County Convention Center. Farmers, growers, ranchers, students, and other patrons of sustainably sourced food gathered to learn and discuss how to promote a regenerative food system. Lancaster came alive with hundreds of people gathered for the event. Every restaurant, cafe, and bar was teeming with people.

Though the weather was horrendous—sideways, pouring rain and strong gusts of wind—it concentrated people inside, browsing the booths and speaking with the vendors. At the Barn2Door booth, we enjoyed talking with Farmers, whether they already used our service, or were just discovering what we do.

Whether we were chatting with attendees at the booth, participating in sessions, or enjoying blustery Lancaster, the 2020 PASA Conference proved a wonderful opportunity to connect and learn!

We were thrilled to present the Session: 6 Steps to Access Local Customers

Speaker: Mariel Conklin

Take-Aways:

  • Brand consistency is important, but you must also offer easy self-service ordering.

  • Customers expect convenience—the ability to purchase with the click of a button.

  • Convenience wins. Offer multiple pickup and delivery options for customers to choose from.

  • Regular communication to regular customers leads to regular sales.

What Mariel and Isabella had to say:

Mariel: “It’s always great to meet our customers face to face. I love hearing their success stories and all the value we’ve been able to provide.”
Isabella: “I really enjoyed the conference. It’s energizing to meet people so passionate about farming sustainably, who are eager to grow and develop their businesses.”
