Simplify your Farm Operations with Pick and Pack Lists

Owning and operating a Farm is a complicated business. There are a lot of variables when it comes to growing and harvesting products on different schedules. Farms fulfill orders for multiple buyers (wholesale, retail, private), fulfillment options (deliveries, pick-ups), and purchases (one-time purchases, subscriptions, add-ons, deposits). It is important to have a system to organize and simplify the process for fulfillments, no matter the parameters of a given order.

Barn2Door’s Pick and Pack Lists make it easy for Farmers to pick products for orders, and pack them depending on who is receiving the package or the delivery location. These lists offer features to streamline your Farm business and save time.

Built for Farmers

Barn2Door is literally ‘Built for Farmers’ - exclusively. We are not designing a solution for Consumer Product Goods (CPG) (e.g. swim trunks, watches), which can be sold and drop-shipped anywhere on the planet (sitting indefinitely in stock).  At Barn2Door, the intention behind every product decision is weighed based on the needs of Farmers, and the unique nuances of managing perishable Products (e.g. proteins, produce & dairy), that are sold locally. Every capability that is designed, developed and released goes through careful consideration to determine how it will improve a Farm business.

Our goal is to help streamline your Farm operations and save time. Thinking about every detail that might cause stress or waste time is key. We actively solicit and seek feedback from our Farmers to ensure Barn2Door serves them well.

One innovation that is directly attributable to Farmer feedback is Barn2Door’s Pick and Pack List.

What is a Pick List?

A Pick List is a summary of all the items a Farmer needs to source, supply, or retrieve from their Farm fields, trees, refrigerators or freezers to fulfill all the orders received for a given period of time. This eliminates the need to go through dozens of orders individually, and manually collating individual products to identify what needs to be assembled.

With the click-of-a-button, the Barn2Door Pick List automatically aggregates what needs to be assembled. No matter the range of products, the quantity, or the Buyers, all the items are aggregated on one list for a simple process of assembling your inventory.

Farmers no longer have to spend hours going through every order and risk human error while tallying products, because Barn2Door’s software can generate a Pick list for 10, 100 or 1000+ orders in just seconds. This not only saves you hours of time, but also provides an organized spreadsheet with all the details at your fingertips. Pick Lists can be assembled across a range of buyers, days, and fulfillment types — however you choose to collate your Orders.

What is a Pack List?

Once your Pick List items are assembled, the Pack List provides the details on how the products are to be packaged together to fulfill individual Orders. While a Pick List provides what inventory needs to be pulled, a Pack List goes further to identify what needs to be assembled for each individual Buyer.

No matter what the fulfillment option (Pick-up or Delivery), the Pack List helps organize each Order by name so you can quickly assemble boxes. This process is particularly helpful for Farms that may have 100’s or 1000’s of orders to pack in a given day.

Once the Pack List is generated by Barn2Door, Farmers can download the details as a PDF or Spreadsheet. Farmers have the ability to edit columns and other details as they see fit. A Pack List may be automatically assembled across a range of Buyers, days and fullment types (or location-specific).

An additional benefit of the Barn2Door Pack List is the ability to automatically generate Farm-branded receipts and Box labels, which come in a number of formats. Most Farmers find the Barn2Door Pack List, plus the receipt and label-making capabilities, a game-changer for the team - saving hours of time.

Fulfillment Options with Pick and Pack Lists

No matter how you sell your Products (e.g. one-time purchases, subscriptions, add-ons, deposits), the Barn2Door Pick and Pack Lists will streamline your operations and help you save time. Regardless of how a Buyer places an Order, Barn2Door will automatically aggregate the information for your upcoming fulfillment dates and fulfillment alternatives.

(Note, this is no small feat, considering many Farmers have a mix of one-time purchases and subscriptions, across a variety of fulfillment options).

Whether you’re fulfilling a Delivery or a Pick-up order, the Pick List will aggregate across every fulfillment option. However, the Pack List will then distinguish between the two fulfillment options.

A separate spreadsheet is generated for Pick-ups, while another one is generated for Deliveries (including latitude and longitude for GPS integrations). Since Deliveries require more information, such as addresses and gate codes for the driver, those details are also included with the Pack List.

For Deliveries, you can customize columns on your Pack List to include information such as specific locations or days for different drivers. Depending on your preferences, you can also change the order of how names, addresses, and items will appear on the Pack List.

Since the Barn2Door Pick and Pack Lists can be assembled across multiple days, your Farm can plan ahead for an upcoming weekend, then print the lists accordingly. The totals for that timeline will be aggregated automatically, depending on the time range you choose.

Filtering your Pack lists allows you to ensure each Order is accurate and ready for fulfillment. You not only have the ability to filter locations and days, but also Buyer types. Whether you have private, wholesale or retail Buyers, you can specifically choose to focus on those customers on your lists.

Routing Integration

Barn2Door also supports a direct integration with Routific, which can streamline the delivery process. All data from the Pack List can be automatically ‘synced’ into the Routific app to provide the most efficient delivery route for your drivers, including all the details.

Note, the Barn2Door Pack List includes all the details (including latitude and longitude), which can be imported into a number of other routing applications (e.g. RoadWarrior, RouteXL). No matter what routing application you choose, Barn2Door can help simplify the delivery routes with automatically generated Pack Lists.
