Why Giving Yourself 30-days to Cancel your Account is a Good Idea

With many services you may enjoy, such as your gym membership, mobile phone contract, cable contract, and other online services, a 30-day notice of cancellation is a common requirement. At Barn2Door, we’re not going to hold your feet to the fire. If you sign up one day and would like to cancel the next, that’s your decision (we’ll be sad to see you go!). However, if you built your business with Barn2Door, we recommend giving yourself time to transition. Why? There are too many details to migrate if you close your store in a single day.

Taking 30 days to close your store gives you time to wind down, allowing you to communicate with your Customers, issue refunds, close third-party accounts, and more. In turn, the 30 days allows us to help you properly shut down your account and wrap up loose ends, to ensure a smooth transition.

If a Farmer is considering canceling their Barn2Door subscription (retiring, moving, personal issues), we highly recommend you evaluate the following first:

Website. The hosting of your site will be discontinued, and unfortunately, your website is non-transferable (the same would be true if you canceled with another website provider). It’s not possible to “move” your website to another content management system (you have to build it from scratch, again). However, you can export certain content into a .xml file that would be helpful to building a site in the future.

Store Access & Store Credits. If you decide to cancel your subscription, we encourage you to reach out to customers, let them know about the closing of your online store, and urge them to use credits within 30 days. When your store closes,  customers will no longer be able to access their order history or use any outstanding credits.

Integrations. You are still liable for any third-party accounts that have integrated with Barn2Door, including (but not limited to) your Domain Name, Mailchimp, QuickBooks, Avalara, or TaxJar, regardless if you cancel your Barn2Door subscription.

Data. If you decide to cancel your account, you will no longer have access to customer and order data. It will be available for you to download into a .csv file while your account is still active. We encourage you to download all of your data before closing your account in case you need it in the future.

At Barn2Door, we’re honored to support 1000’s of Farmers across the country with the software and the services to grow and manage their businesses. If you have any questions regarding our policies, we recommend contacting your Account Manager or reaching out to us here
