We are pleased to announce a partnership with the Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC), to support American Indian producers eager to grow their direct-to-market businesses. IAC aims to promote the conservation, development and use of agricultural resources for the betterment of tribal members. Today, more than 80,000 Native American farmers could benefit from IAC resources to help transition from commodity production to local agriculture systems that promote regenerative practices and directly connect their communities with food producers.

Barn2Door is privileged and eager to support the IAC mission. Barn2Door CEO, Janelle Maiocco, shared: “It’s an honor to partner with the IAC and support their work with Native American food producers across the country. We’re excited to help those Farmers interested in pursuing direct-to-market businesses, with the tools and support to better serve their local communities and keep 100% profit from their sales.”

Over the preceding year, Barn2Door has supported DX Beef, a South Dakota ranch operated by Kelsey Ducheneaux. She sells in and around the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, advocating for the value of quality beef products grown with quality management practices. Kelsey has enjoyed tremendous success serving her local community - a food desert - while also building a thriving Farm business that has grown 750% over the past year. Read more about her story in this Farmer Spotlight: DX Beef.

Kelsey also serves as National Resources Director for the IAC, and helped make the introduction to the council’s leadership. Here’s what Kelsey had to say about IAC: “I firmly believe that the reason a small business like DX Beef can succeed is the result of decades of IAC work committed to Indian Country agriculture and food systems. I’m proud of IAC’s contribution to Indian Country—it’s a true honor to help carry forward their mission every day.”

By providing the tools and support for Farms to handle direct sales and marketing, Barn2Door aims to help improve market access for IAC members and simplify the consumer experience. In furtherance of the partnership, IAC members will receive $100 off a one-time setup fee upon signing up for annual Barn2Door subscription - additionally, one month of their subscription will be donated to the IAC in furtherance of their education and policy initiatives.

If you’re a Native American farmer interested in learning more about IAC membership, educational and technical resources, please visit the Intertribal Agriculture Council website.
